L’Oréal At-home Hair Color
Colorsonic: Powered by Beauty Tech Innovation
The Product Creation Studio team took the time to understand my vision and express it in product form. This really empowered me to be the champion of the Colorsonic project within L’Oréal.
-Carolina Cañamaque, Colorsonic Inventor at L’Oréal
L’Oréal inventor Carolina Cañamaque, VP Marketing, and innovation leader Joe Grez, Intraprenuer, knew their concept for making the hair coloring process less messy and more consistent could revolutionize the at-home experience.
Their challenge was to refine that product vision and then make it real.
Why L’Oréal’s Colorsonic Team Chose Product Creation Studio
Product Creation Studio brought a framework of innovation and creativity to the Colorsonic program providing expertise in transforming early concepts and technology into functional prototypes for user testing. With over two decades of experience bringing product concepts to reality, Product Creation Studio offered the L’Oréal at-home hair coloring team a cohesive, full-service product design and engineering team under one roof.
Furthermore, Product Creation Studio’s track record of successfully developing products for a wide range of industries and applications meant that L’Oréal was assured of a collaborative, adaptable team that could rise to the engineering, design, and manufacturing challenges that the Colorsonic program may face.
Product Creation Studio’s Role
Product Creation Studio was a great design and engineering partner as we built this new experience from scratch. Their ability to create an industrial design vision and integrate the cartridge, meter, mix and dispense functions were just what we needed to build momentum for the product.
-Joe Grez, L’Oréal Intrapreneur
Product Creation Studio collaborated with L’Oréal’s Technology Innovation Team to develop a unique, user-centered design for the Colorsonic device that would enable precise and consistent hair colorant application.
L’Oréal relied on Product Creation Studio at key points in product development to help define what a reusable, cartridge-based hair coloring experience could be like, how the functional elements could be incorporated, and how to infuse the L’Oréal brand into a beauty tech appliance.
Product Creation Studio became a nexus point for the early innovation team as the Colorsonic beauty product was born.
