What led you to a career in product development?

Like everyone else at PCS, I love designing solutions to the challenges put in front of me. However, I didn't always know I would find myself working in product development. I have to thank Pierre Mourad, one of my favorite professors at University of Washington - Bothell, for opening that door to me.

Near the end of the program, I was unsure of the career path I wanted to take. That's when Pierre presented me with an opportunity to introduce me to Ian MacDuff. Pierre told me that the opportunity to work with Product Creation Studio was a one-time chance to get into the ground floor of something amazing; he was right. There hasn't been a day that I've regretted the chance I took.

What excites you most about your job?

The diversity of projects, my awesome coworkers, the fact that every day has a different challenge to overcome. I’m constantly pushing my brain outside of its comfort zone. There isn’t anywhere else that I would be learning as much as I’m absorbing here at PCS. Plus, I have a lot of fun!

What is your most rewarding work experience to date?

I am currently working on a medical device and it's the first project that I've been a part of in which we started from scratch (i.e., just an idea) and have built up to a functional, benchtop prototype.

This is one of the quintessential projects of Product Creation Studio's vision: to design products that enhance people's lives.

This device has the potential to make a huge impact in the medical industry once it hits the market. Knowing that I’m part of a team that is designing a product that can improve the quality of medical care is worth the energy that I’ve put towards the development.

I’ve learned so much on this project and I enjoy how the work continues to push my critical thinking and stretch my creativity to find solutions.

What is the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I used to work for a photography company where I dressed up as the Easter bunny. I would sit in a photo booth for 8 hours in a sweaty costume and parents would put their kids on my lap and take pictures. Totally different from what I do now, but really fun at the time.

What is something about you that people would be surprised to know?

I’m amazing at playing Dance Dance Revolution. You can ask anyone here and they would tell you that I blew them away the first time they saw me play at the office.
