Talent Spotlight is a regular feature profiling the employees of Product Creation Studio. See the Talent Spotlight archive for more interviews.

What led you to a career in product development?

I started designing and building things at a very young age and have never stopped.  The type of things I design have changed during my lifetime, but the enjoyment has always remained the same.  After receiving my Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Washington getting a job in product development was a natural fit for me.  When I am not at work I am often designing and building things around the house.

What excites you most about your job?

Over my career I have worked for companies in several different industries, so I have had exposure to a wide range of products and technologies.

Working for Product Creation Studio allows me to stay at one company and continue to work on different types of products for many industries.  I find the variety very interesting and it allows me to draw on my wide range of experience.

I have been able to develop products for industries that I did not have prior experience in and provide our clients with new ideas and different solutions for their product development requirements.

Describe your most rewarding work experience to date.

Prior to joining Product Creation Studio, I worked for Ultreo Inc. where we developed an ultrasonic toothbrush.  I joined in the very early startup stage and was able to work in all phases of product development and production support.

We had a small group of very highly skilled and experienced people and I really enjoyed the opportunity to develop both the product and the company with such an excellent team.

If you had an out-of-town guest visiting the Seattle area, what three things would you recommend they do while in town?

A visit to the Space Needle is the first thing, I think it is the most recognized Seattle landmark and the view of the city and surrounding areas is a must see.

A trip to Mount Rainer is also a wonderful experience.  The colors in the fall are very impressive, it looks more like a colorful painting than a real landscape.  The colors are hard to believe and just as hard to forget.

Some time at the Pike Place Market and waterfront for shopping and eating.

What have you always wanted to try but never have?

Retirement.
